Beginnings and You 2: The Service

In the beginning, God Created...Gen 1:1

This talks about what God did to kick start our beginning, the first thing that is highlighted apart from God, in the beginning, is what he did, Service! The service that He did was 'work', read here, Creation is an act of work. God is a worker and in Him, we see the pattern of works, an ultimate call to service.

Service means giving effectively to meet needs, when you meet needs, you do service. God is mindful and committed to meeting our needs, known needs, unknown needs Phil 4:19. God loves you and desires the best for you. 

There was a need to make a place for man, a suitable and sustainable environment for man to live in, a place where he could be comfortably domiciled, hence the creation of a material world for man. This seems parallel to what Jesus said in Jn 14:3, preparing a place for us. 

Non-other understands perfectly the concept of service than our God does and as always, He is the pattern for it. The purpose of service is the meeting of needs for the sustainability of systems. Service determines the type of work that is done. God expects us to serve one another Gal 5:13 and this scripture present God as the ultimate initiator. Without works, man is denied the opportunity of manifesting his creative abilities

Some people see service only from a perspective of servitude, but this misrepresents the essence of it, it is rather that which is done to help us build and sustain all relevant systems. 

The future depends on quality service delivery; make a commitment to quality service today. Be mindful of meeting needs around you today, don't just do any kind of work, instead, target that which meets a need and solves a problem.
