I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal 2:20
The cross is commonly flaunted today as the symbol of
Christianity. Most churches have a cross hung either at top of their roof or
displayed around the pews. In the business world, cross ornaments are fast-selling souvenirs. Many people of faith adorn themselves with golden chains
laced with a cross, some tattoo the cross on their bodies. Many Christians
symbolically wield it at prayers while another group of people keep it on or
around them, trusting in it for safety.
In the light of all these, you might seek what or who is right or wrong
on the issues of the cross, the most important thing is to know what the
Scripture says and where it applies. Here’s what the cross represented before
the death of Christ
Before Christ
The cross before Christ was the Roman cross, it was one of the Roman forms of execution, here are a few things that this cross represents:
· 1. The cross in points to death, the cross
is for those that have a verdict of death; it is the end of the road for anyone
that goes to it.
· 2. The cross is the worst judgement for the
worse people, the most terrible sin, people, sinners go to the cross
· 3. The cross is for those that have
committed the most terrible offenses
· 4. The cross was a badge of shame.
· 5. The cross points to a curse or makes
accursed. Deut 21:23
· 6. The cross before Jesus Christ was a hopeless place.
Here is what the cross
represented after the death of Jesus Christ
· 1. The cross after the
death of Jesus is a place of hope Mark 15:22-24
· 2. The cross became the
place of the crucifixion of the flesh: The death that happens at Jesus’ cross is the
death of the flesh. Gal 5:24
· 3. At the cross is the
fullness of the love of God on display Jn 15:13
· 4. At the cross is the
judgement of sin. Numbers 21:4-9
· 5. At the cross, we admit
our sinful state and acknowledge Jesus as the cure Matthew 27:38
The cross signifies the place of the judgement of sin, the defeat of sin, and the triumph of Christ, Col 2:14-15. Perhaps the story of the thief on Jesus’ right-hand paints the clearest picture Lk 23:40-42, All his sins were forgiven and Jesus prepared a place for him in the kingdom after He acknowledged Jesus.
Have you visited a cross, if yes, which cross did you visit? The cross of Christ or the Roman cross. If you carry around condemnation or still live in condemnable sin, you are at with the Roman cross, if sin still your master dominating you, then you are doomed for the roman cross. If you feel that you have committed an offense so terrible that God cannot forgive you, then you need the cross. If you still find yourself in terrible sin, you need to go to the cross
You need to come to go to the cross of Christ.
You need Jesus.
Thank you Jesus for the work perfected on the Cross.
