Light Up

In Him was life and the life was the light of all men, the light shines in the darkness and the darkness could not comprehend it... Jn 1:3-4

God is life, all of life is about Him, and all life proceeds from Him. Life is the quality of responsiveness to God; it is the essence of the God-nature. John, in talking about Christ described him thus: Life was in him and that life was the light of men. 

Here are five notable points from this scripture:

The light is intended for all men, no one should be in darkness: This light being referred to is for all men, for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Tit 2:11. All men ought to have an encounter with the light, experience with and in the light is crucial, if we walk in the light as He is in the light 1 Jn 1:7... Everyone that comes into the world must have something to do with the light, Jn 1:7. The light is our universal passport.

There is a basic light, for all, same light: Notice the specificity of the light being referred to in this place. In other words, there is just a basic light, not two. One faith, One Lord, One God, Eph 4:4.

The light must shine: The light shines, that is what lights do, it is a law. The activity of this light is noticeable by its glow; the glow is noticeable when there is a manifestation of the full essence of the light.

The light shines when the life is lived: The shine or glow is further clarified as a manifestation of the light. This manifestation refers to the life lived. In other words, if you want to see the light, watch out for the life, there is a particular way of living or manner of life that portrays the light. Now, everyone ought to be connected to the light, anyone connected to the light contacts the light and glows, the glow is noticeable in the life lived. Your life is noticeable by the light glow you emanate.

Darkness Cannot comprehend/Stop/understand/grasp the light: The light talked about all along cannot be stopped, it cannot be overcome. Such is the life of the light, and such by extension is the life that God expects us to live through His help, Phil 4:13 we should live a blameless life that is beyond, a life where the Lord presents us before the presence of His throne with exceeding joy.

This light expresses itself as life lived. The Baptist, John was described as a burning and shining light, Jn 5:35 that is a pattern for all, here is the point of this charge, you need to light up. Be connected to the light and lighten everywhere that you are in by living the life of faith in the Lord. When you live a godly life that portrays God's Zoe, the light is shone.
