An Ant

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? Pr 6:6-9

These deductions could be made from the life of the ant

1. What they do Differently: It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer...

They take responsibility!

a. they do not wait to be moved before taking action,

b. they do not wait to be led or directed before doing right,

c. they do not wait till everything is perfect before starting out,

d. not till there is legislation that favours them,

e. they do not depend on the excellences or deficiencies in/of leadership,

They take responsibility for their own lives and actions. Each one of them is a leader, schooled in leadership, and ready to take on leadership at any point, they are leadership-oriented, are you?

2. What they do Extra: gathers its food at harvest

The harvest is the period when people reap that which they have sown. At the harvest, some people swing to celebration mode, which is just normal, however, the ants do more than the normal, they store up supplies in preparation for the next season. The ant knows that it only has a window of work for survival due to environmental forces. What extras do they do?

a. When others eat, they work

b. when others swing to celebration mode, they sustain the work mode, probably labouring more

Oftentimes in life, the little extra is all that is needed to guarantee a place in greatness. You need to do more, a little more work, a little more effort, sustained work pace when others call it to quit. You might just be building your large store base. The ants are small in size but cannot be relegated into irrelevance, your size doesn’t really determine what you do, the largeness of your heart does.

3. What they Don't Do: How long will you lie there, you sluggard?

They don't do what sluggards do, Sleep! Sluggards sleep, the sluggards are contrasted with ants.

Here are two manifestations of this sleep.

a. Literal Sleep: Excessive Sleep activity: lazy people spend more than enough time sleeping, they sleep when they ought to work. Now, this kind of sleep isn't essentially born from medical advice or necessity, rather, lazing

b. Figurative Sleep: Sleep on opportunities, chances, virtues. Meaning failing to take advantage of resources and opportunities as at when due. Manifestable in procrastination, lack of seriousness...

When will you get up from your sleep?

Don't be an ant, be like the ant!

  1. Come to think of it, many know about the nature of the ants but we still can't learn. Only God can help our spirits minds.

  2. God has given us perfect example to follow. During creations, He work for good six days without given up or being lazy and without sleep nor slumber. Jesus said in John5:17, my father work hitherto and i work. If God is till working even after creations and he does not sleep nor slumber and our saviour Jesus christ is also working hard every second interceeding for us and fight our battles and bringing light into darkness, there is no geniune reason for us not to work hard. Hardworking pays and any prosperity gotten without hardworking and commitment may not last for long times because it won't be managed properly. As tiny ants maybe, they do mighty works. You can find them sleep the sleep of death which many are doing this day. If you refuse to work hard, definitely you will live a hard life and hard life does not produce good future but a life of suffering, and pain and lack, these shall not be our portions in Jesus name and i rebuke every spirit of laziness in our lives in Jesus name Amen
