Behave Your Belief

The former treatise have I made O Theophilus of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. Acts 1:1

Dr. Luke wrote this as his opening line in his second letter to this dignitary, Theophilus, about the life of Jesus. He intended to write a letter that detailed events about the person, Jesus. 

The rather compelling thing to me is the presentation of Jesus' approach to ministry. Clearly here, two basic things were pointed. 

A. All that Jesus began to do 

B. All that Jesus began to teach. 

You may ask if that is a listed order and I'll answer. Yes!

I believe that living (doing) should be a precursor to teaching. In other words, sound teaching must be born from experiential living. This is very crucial to the faith. Faith in itself is a doing; it is more of acts than words. James said that 'I will show you my faith by my works James 2:18. 

It is easier to say a thing without a commitment to doing it, just as it is far easier to preach than to do those things preached; many people easily preach things that they never had any encounter or experience of. Eloquence in speech isn’t necessarily tied to basic life experience.

People in the world today, do not just seek good teachings; they seek men who live the life, people who can be a path lead and are the right example. Many are confused about the life of faith because there aren't many examples to follow; there are so many professing Christians but so few doing Christians.

The apostle Paul charged the Corinthian Church, imitate me as I imitate Christ 1 Corr 11:1, in other words, he was putting forth himself as an example. I believe that this should be a basic order for believers, Paul also admonished Timothy to 'be an example of the believers... 1 Tim 4:12. It was said concerning Jesus that his life was the model of the messages that He taught and talked about.

Jesus is the pattern for not just believers but all men; you will be able to do the needful when you accept Him as savior and Lord.

Behave your belief, don't just be a teacher, be a liver. The real message that carries life is a life (person’s) lived in truth, a life that shines and whose works are a worthy testament. Do not just talk the talk, walk the walk and become a pattern of righteousness.
