When they were filled, He said to His disciples, gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Some people had gathered unto Jesus because they saw the miracles that He performed. They didn’t have the clearest idea of His person instead were drawn to miracles, everyone just wanted to have a piece of miracle. Jesus went up the mountain with the disciples and they still went to meet Him there. He knew that these people would be hungry so He provided food for them in the most unorthodox way.

Everyone had food and ate their due portions: and here comes the interesting part ‘When they were filled…’ Jesus waited until they were filled before asking that clearing work be done, probably to serve the remnant elsewhere. Here, I see something about the character of Christ which is consistent with God’s nature Col 2:9; He wants you to have a full portion, to live a full life and have fullness. God is interested in fullness, full blessing, life, health, peace, grace, joy, love, spirit, etc.

God wants to advance you beyond your current level, there is yet more to achieve, more ground to cover, more to become. He is waiting for your fullness before mopping up excesses. God is putting up with you because He is waiting for you to come into fullness.

How to attain this fullness:

1. Spend time in the Word: 1 Jn 1:4, Jn 15:11. Study more; the purpose of the written and spoken word is fullness for you. God desires to increase you till you have a full measure. Likewise, in your personal endeavour, study would bring you a fuller measure of knowledge of whatever field you are in.

2. Prayer: Jn 16:24. The more you pray, the more your heart is filled with gladness, Jesus said here, ask (pray), that your heart may be filled with gladness. Jesus is waiting for you to pray, call upon me Jer 33:3. You can have a fuller measure of gladness of heart in any situation if you call on the Lord.

3. Cultivating His presence: Psa 16:11. Delight to be in His presence always. Prioritize fellowship with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit 1 Jn 1:3,  2 Corinthians 13:14. When you come into His presence, there is joy in its fullness, not just a measure, In your presence, is the fullness of Joy His presence is the best place to be.

In Christ lies the fullness of the Godhead bodily, Col 2:9, being in Christ guarantees fullness in Him, this also brings us into the fullness of all virtues and graces, all things that pertain to life 2 Pet 1:3. When you live in Christ, you can be assured that the journey to fullness commenced already, He is at work in you to bring you into your covenant fullness Phil 1:13.

You will have a full measure.

Amen

God bless you
