Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords

And they gave gifts of Gold...

The visit of the wise men was such a concise account and fairly accurate prediction of the person and purpose of the newborn child.

I believe that the gifts conveyed the message in part

The first gift bared was gold. Of course, gold was and still is a precious metal adorned by many. It is highly treasured everywhere.

Gold signifies value, wealth, and most importantly royalty. It is largely accepted as a means of exchange and reserve.

The gift of Gold, presented to Christ signified about two things to me

a. He would be our Exchange Means

Remember that Christ is our ransom (money demanded or paid for the release of a captive).

For he hath made him to be sin for us who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Jesus is that valuable exchange that was given for man to be liberated from sin and death eternally.

b. It signified His Royalty

In other words, the child would be a king.

John the apostle revealed 'and on his robe and on His thigh he has a name written, 'King of Kings and Lord of Lord'. The wise men understood that when they asked King Herod, 'where is he that is born king of the Jews...'

Jesus is King!!!
