Corruption in Nigeria |
Some months ago, many Nigerians watched and read from/in media outlets, probes into corrupt handling of resources of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The misappropriation of billions of Naira by self-serving elected public officials are really heart-wrenching. This has unfortunately become a sad reality in our nation.
Funds that would have translated into
excellent healthcare delivery, quality roads, and a sound education system have
found their way into private accounts and frivolities. A generation has just been
denied decades of development.
Many people have written about corruption, its
types, causes, effects, and solution(s), you can read one such here
Rousseau once pointed out that the legitimacy of the national public power comes from the people. The government is the executor of the sovereign. Its power comes from the people’s trust. When the use of public power deviates from the original track, being abused, corruption problems arise. It accords with the definition of “the abuse of public office for private benefit”
The question abounds, is there Hope still? There is HOPE
You need to know that the very root of corruption is the sinful nature of man, so long this nature thrives, man is helpless and
corruption will prevail.
You need to be saved, we need to invite Jesus into our
daily life and culture, our world will be better for it. Here are a few other
things to do:
Stand out as a light/Add value
Be a value-adding person who intentionally does what is right, and stands for the same. Most people will only talk, discuss, and rant on social media and do nothing afterward. there would always be talking points, remember, talk is cheap.
Build your family
You may not have the world at your beck and call; however, you have your family as the primary sphere of influence, do what is right in your microcosm.
Pray for the nation
Pray for your nation, it is a way of acknowledging the divine and affirming that though we live in a material world; all actions are coordinated and influenced spiritually.
Be a voice
Speak out against what is wrong when and where needed
Strengthen positive voices
Whenever
you see a positive light, stand by and encourage the voices of righteousness.
Let me know what you think
I am really bless reading this, and also there is a root of corruption in everyone, but when we are in Christ, that root is totally Changed to the nature of Christ.
