His Ascension: The Hope of Our Ascension

It had been forty days since Jesus resurrected, His disciples and other followers had been gathered unto Him at Galilee at a mountain, there, he gave them parting admonitions, charging specifically that they should remain at Jerusalem till the Spirit be poured from on high.

Prior to this final appearance, Jesus had instructed the Apostles on their new ministry, telling them to replicate the kingdom mind everywhere as he had commanded them. Matthew 28:19-20

The Apostles asked Jesus if the time for their political emancipation had come, He answered in the opposite knowing their lack of understanding of His mission” Jesus answered, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” Acts 1:7-8

After Jesus had said these things “He lifted up his hands” and “blessed them” (Luke 20:50) and as they looked on, “He was lifted up… and a cloud received Him out of their sight”. (Acts 1:9)

Still gazing intently into the sky, “Two men in white clothing stood beside them”. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven”. (Acts 1:10-11)

Here's The Meaningful Pattern of Hope Set by His Ascension

A. It is a pattern for His return: Jesus was bodily lifted from the earth, and He would be visibly present in the skies at His return, Acts 1:11 and for everyone (saints at the rapture) that would ascend to meet Him in the air, 1 Thess 4:13-18, He was received by the clouds: at His return, He would receive us in the clouds in bodily form. No force of nature would be able to hold you down when the time comes. He ascended in the presence of His followers: at His return, He will appear to believers only Matt 5:8. Your preparation and wait aren't in vain, the king's invite time is almost up, go pack up, we are going up.

B. The beginning of His work as High Priest: Heb 4:14-16, 9:15: The ministry of Jesus as the high priest of our profession commenced from the ascension, remember this was Old Testament imagery of God's reality till the time of Christ and beyond. As a priest forever, He becomes the reason why we are forever entitled and restored to provisions of righteousness and Godliness Heb 2:17. The priestly work of Christ is revealed to us as the abundance of Grace that we enjoy today Jn 1:16-17

C. To prepare a place for us: Jn 14:12: Jesus told His disciples that He was going to be with the father, (God), and there, He would prepare a place for all those that believe in Him. This is a prepared place for a prepared people; God is eagerly awaiting your arrival, friend, live in this consciousness. 

He did it all for you, what will hold you from going up to meet Him?
