THE MAN WITH AN INFIRMITY OF 38 YEARS 3: THE SYSTEM 2

 

When Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now a long time in that case… Jn 5:4

THE NEW SYSTEM

The old system was merely a shadow of the new, of course, you know that there wouldn’t be a shadow without the actual image in place. The message is: the same Christ that was present in the old system in types and forms is the same person that is present in the new system, the difference being the fullness. 

In the new system, Jesus is the basis, He is the law and embodiment of grace, He is the way, the truth, and the life, Jn 14:6. He is the prime focus and authority. Everything yields and responds to Him because in Him lies the fullness of the Godhead bodily, Col 2:9. In the new system, everything is routed back to God and rooted in Him, Eph 1:4. 

At Bethesda, when Jesus showed up and had an audience with the man, he diverted his attention away from the old system asking the man directly, 'would you be made whole'. 

I see here, a pattern of how God wants to deal with us, personally, individually. You could connect God personally and He would be there to oblige you. God might occasionally move through any means that He chooses but the source and strength of it is He 'looking up to Jesus, the author and finisher...' Heb 12:2a.

Jesus came into the house of grace and exemplified that He is what is needed, no need to queue up as the old system requires, He is the real owner and occupant of the house of grace and unlike the messenger that would come in a season, He is there at all times and in every season, lastly, He isn't restricted in ability, He could heal everyone at once so long each has the faith. 

Have you located the person of grace or are you in the house of grace, do you have faith, your miracle is now!

You would also see the direct approach in the prayer pattern that Jesus taught the disciples, Mt 6:9a, He opened the prayer with the words 'Our Father' thereby establishing relationship (pointing and connecting them directly to God as the source). 

At Bethesda, Jesus shifted attention away from the events and the messenger to the message Himself (Jesus Christ).
