And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…Rom 12:2
There once was a goat
named Eda, he was a lively and ambitious lot; Eda wanted to be a goat like no
other, he tried to do what no goat had ever done before, non before, non
after; he believed that you can be
whatever you want to be. On a cool evening, while on tour with his mentor
somewhere close to a forest reserve, he saw a lion; so thrilled was Eda that he
declared, I want to be a lion; strange you’d say. This quest led him to see the
wise one, Rafiki, the monkey in a faraway land; Rfiki told Eda that no one had
ever requested such but for his daring attitude, he would help him achieve the goal though deep down, Rafiki knew that it wasn’t realistically possible, only
ephemerally adaptive. The wise one told him that to be a lion, he had to do
five things, one at a time, and to come for verification after every step.
Step
1: He needed to have a mane:
Eda would eat all sorts
of herbs and concoctions to aid in growing the required hair that would be similar
to that of a lion, he then hired the best stylist to trim him to shape, and in little
time, the goal was achieved; he would look at himself frequently in the mirror
and would marvel at the wonder that he had become. Eda couldn’t be more proud
of himself; he proudly ticked out his activity book log, as he had achieved
this with minimal effort. He returned to the wise one to brief him about his
success; Rafiki congratulated him and told him to proceed to the next
challenge.
Step
2: He needed to change his dentition, adjust his diet, and build lion physiology:
This was quite challenging,
he had to file out his teeth, it was painful but he was enduring, it would
alter his look in some way but he had a goal. After all the pain, sweat, and blood,
he altered his dentition in the most adaptable way possible. Next, he had to
change his diet, he could no longer eat grass or herbs, and he had to switch to a carnivorous meal which was the weirdest thing till the time, more was to come;
he began a series of exercises to conform his body physiology to the lion’s, even
reconstructive surgery in the process. After a long torturous experiment he looked
close to what he aspired to, you can become anything he boasted to himself as he
headed for Rafiki’s house to assess his progress. Once again, impressed with
the pace of progress, Rafiki congratulated him and told him to proceed to the
next challenge.
He needed to learn to
roar: To be continued…
