She was an orphan, guided and groomed by her uncle, Mordecai; she had been taught the ways of her people and cultured in their customs and traditions, also, she had been introduced to the God of her people, Yahweh.

This young, beautiful, intelligent, and obedient damsel was entered into the contest for queenship by her uncle but instructed to conceal personal details about her. She received royal beautification for about a year, stayed in the royal harem, far away from family and friends but kept every instruction of her foster father and the harem instructor.

She entered in unto the king at the designated time, the king desired her above all the other ladies, she became queen in the most powerful nation on earth at the time.

A certain man arose who had such disgust for her people and wanted them wiped from the face of the earth, every one of them, his plans succeeded largely until there was divine intervention. Her uncle and every other Jew at the time were in severe distress, he sent an emissary to her to tell her: Maybe the Lord has preserved you for such a time as this... of course, the instigator became the prey and died in their place, the people were honoured instead. She was the biblical queen Hadassa, popularly known as Esther.

I write from Lagos, southwestern Nigeria, and at this time, the nation is in a very dire situation, the polity is heated up and things are pretty volatile, inflation is every day, security is poor, and many people are dispirited.

At times like this, the nation needs people who will realize that their training, expertise, wisdom, courage have been prepared and preserved for times like this. At times like this, the nation needs an interceding church, a body that is alive to God and sees the needs of the nation, a sober body than a reveling one. At times like this, the nation needs organizations that will decide to be fair to the people.

At times like this, we need men that will play their roles well. I will play my part, will you?

  1. I pray I am not too dispirited to pray for the nation.
It is actually the time to pray and work. God is very attentive if only we can put all our hopes in HIM.
