THE
POOL BY THE SHEEP MARKET
Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water was made well of whatever disease he had Jn 5:1-4
This event happened at the pool
by the sheep market, the place was called Bethesda. This pool had five porches,
literally resting place(s). It was always busy and the porches were always occupied because of the significance of the place. Scriptures described the number of people present there as a great company.
Bethesda according to theologians
mean about 3 things:
House of Mercy, House of Grace, House of goodness
Impotent folks came to the house of grace and mercy because they had the confidence that they could be healed and they would stay on, no matter how long the time (some even had mats for rest). these people hoped that they would benefit from goodness in that place, so they wouldn't mind travelling distances to tarry there.
They were there because of their needs, Grace responds to needs 'Therefore come boldly before the throne of grace that you might obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need' Heb 4:16.
So as far as their conditions were concerned, they were in the right place.
One important destiny decision that you will make will be to locate your place, when you locate your place, you find/create your space.
Have you located the house of Mercy, Grace, Goodness, have you located the place where your needs are met?
Jesus says 'I am the way, the truth, and the life... Jn 14:6
The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe Prov 18:10.
